A New Beach Mall is Coming to Mactan!

A one-of-a-kind beach mall is making its way to Mactan Island! megaworld is on the works of building a two-storey beach mall called Mactan Newtown Beach Walk under the Megaworld Lifestyle Malls brand, it will be situated on a beachside cliff which will give a panoramic view of the city and the sea. It will have a total gross floor area of 30,000 square meters and will be highlighted by a 1.4 hectare man-made lagoon at the center. This mall will feature high-street casual brands, bars, restaurants, and nightlife that will help attract the target market of tourists.

“Megaworld Lifestyle Malls is bringing a fresh, new concept of mall development in Cebu that

recreates and innovates the beach lifestyle experience. We take inspiration from some iconic

coastline commercial developments in South California, where visitors can enjoy coffee, meet

friends over lunch or dinner, watch a movie, or simply shop around in this laid-back beach

atmosphere,” explains Kevin L. Tan, chief strategy officer of Megaworld. Mactan Newtown Beach Walk's amenities include a boutique hotel with 48 guestrooms, garden chapel, beach walk, four state-of-the-art cinemas, food hall, al fresco areas, and a traveler's lounge. Mallgoers can also enjoy water sports activities such as jet ski, waterboarding, stand-up paddling, and boating. To promote sustainability, the mall will have solar roof panels and an open layout scheme for passive cooling and natural lighting, along with 40% of the entire development being dedicated to green open spaces. There is also a plan to add bike trails, airsoft shooting, and tree-top activities in the future.

"The decision to build in Lapu-Lapu happened because we were able to consolidate some properties in Lapu-Lapu, but we are seeking opportunities in the city of Cebu soon.", shared Tan. Construction will cost PHP1.5 billion to make and is expected to start by the end of this year and finish by 2021.
