Connect, Create, and Cultivate with Cebu Design Week

Now on its second year, this week-long celebration on creativity and innovation returns this September 13-15, 2019 from 9:00AM-8:00PM at the IC3 Convention Center. Its aim is to enhance Cebu's position as a design destination through showcasing creative economies and what the Queen City of the South has to offer in the local creative industry. A series of summits, workshops, exhibits, and show is what will comprise of this 3-day launchpad, which will solely focus on creativity, collaboration, creation, entrepreneurship, education, and innovation and how it benefits the different sectors in the local creative industries.

According to the Cebu Design Week team, 15,000 visitors are expected to come throughout the duration of the 3 days, which consists of a wide-range market of students, professionals, entrepreneurs, and the LGUs such as Mandaue City who have a big presence of creative sectors. A collaboration with the academe is also in making this event possible, teachers and students are encouraged to attend the educational activities. The creative courses of the University of the Philippines-Cebu, Fashion Institute of Design and Arts Cebu, Ateneo de Cebu, Cebu Technological University, Don Bosco, St. Therese's College, the University of San Carlos, and the University of the Southern Philippines Foundation will be highlighted. Here are the list of activities to look forward to this upcoming Cebu Design Week: 1.) Design Summit For those who are interested to learn more about what the local creative industry can offer in terms of design, performance arts, urban planning, and many more topics, this 3-day design summit will definitely get your creative juices flowing! More than 20 well-known experts will come along for this anticipated series of talks.


Day 1 will focus on how new developments are benefiting from designs in order to help promote a better tomorrow.

Day 2 will focus on how the business economy was created from something to nothing, with technology benefiting on the fast-paced growth in local businesses and design.

Day 3 will focus on the tackling global problems and how the creative industry can come in and make strides.

2.) Maker's Market A hub where the creative industry consisting of small, medium, and large enterprises showcase will their works and services to the crowd. Asides from the wide array of different creative products, the audience can be inspired on making creativity a business, to support local businesses, and learn from the market as well. 3.) Collaborations Exhibit Cebu Design Week celebrates the diversity of Cebuano artistry, where they give an avenue with different companies to collaborate and create something to benefit the creative industry. 4.) Affiliate Events Beyond the walls of IC3 holds independently-organized events around Cebu that showcase the creative industry. Here are the upcoming events to look forward to:

Design Race Last but not the least, to bring in the fun for this Cebu Design Week, participants will be given a chance to participate in the Design Race, giving them the opportunity to explore the island of Cebu and discover its heritag and crafts. Each person will be given a passport and map of all events, where the goal is to receive a stamp from each stop. The person who gets the most number of stamps will be given the chance to win a trip for two to one of Asia's City of Crafts and Folk Art, which is Chiang Mai, Thailand! The CDW passport and map will be distributed to all partner establishments.



Truly, Cebu Design Week is definitely one of the most anticipated events for the local creatives. With the opportunity of Cebu for earning a UNESCO Creative City badge, Cebu is indeed proving how the city sees the importance of design as a business, a brand, and a future.
