Experience Illongo Flavor with CharcoalBoy

If Cebu is known for lechon, then Iloilo is known for oysters, and today Cebuanos can experience the fresh taste with oysters fresh from the City of Iloilo. CharcoalBoy is a restaurant that is best known for its grilled Pinoy dishes and oysters, Cebuanos have praised the restaurant for its delicious oysters since then. Last February 15, 2019 CharcoalBoy opened its newest branch at M2 Building, Escario Street where CharcoalBoy President Jeffrey Luke Martinez, Charcoal Escario Franchisee Dr. Jean Rafanan, and her daughter Andrea Ivy Dy joined in this grand day.

What inspired the owners to open a CharcoalBoy in Cebu is when they realized there was not a chain that served oysters in Cebu, which inspired them to develop in The Queen City of the South and open its first branch in Cebu last June 2017 at Mahogany Place, Mabolo followed with Alfresco Mactan Newtown, Lapu-Lapu City and Parkmall, Mandaue City. Since then, Jeffrey Martinez has expressed gratefulness with the positive reviews Cebuanos have given. CharcoalBoy first opened in Iloilo in 2015 with two branches but closed down eventually.

Dr. Jean Rafanan, a doctor and entrepreneur, was met by Jeffrey Luke Martinez and they both agreed to make business with CharcoalBoy’s Escario branch along with her daughter Andrea Dy. The newest branch is located in M2 Building, which became the first commercial space Dr. Rafanan acquired, this is also the first time for the Dr. Rafanan to venture in the food business.

Ilonggo Cuisine Served With Love

The owners of CharcoalBoy wanted to give Cebuanos a taste of “Ilonggo flavor”. Popular dishes on the menu include grilled chicken (a personal favorite of Jeffrey), the pork belly barbeque (a must-have for Andrea), pork sisig, and the whole grilled bangus. Meals have a price range from 92 - 380 pesos, one can easily be filled with an order worth 1,000 pesos that is good for 3 -4 people.

Delectable Oysters

Customers will gain the whole CharcoalBoy experience by getting a taste of their oysters fresh from Iloilo. Every day, oysters from Panay Island, Capiz, and Aklan are shipped to Cebu, assuring a fresh taste with every order. There are varieties of oysters to choose from which include the baked hot chili oysters, baked rockerfeller oysters, crispy fried oysters, steamed oysters, and their best seller baked oysters served topped with cheese and garlic. Each order ranges from 105 - 155 pesos and are eight pieces in one serving, which will satisfy one's appetite!

Location and Time

CharcoalBoy's branch in M2 Building, Escario is open Monday - Sunday from 11:00AM - 10:00PM and has a seating capacity of 50 people (consisting of indoor and outdoor seating). This place in Escario is surrounded by offices making it an accessible area for employees working near the area.
