Groundbreaking Ceremony of GT North Academy’s Olympic-Sized Swimming Pool
Swimming has just become more exciting for GT North Academy (GTNA) students for a semi-Olympic sized swimming pool is on its way. A groundbreaking ceremony happened last January 29, 2019 with special guests Liloan Vice-Mayor Thelma Jordan, members of the Sangguniang Bayan, and officers of GTNA’s Parent-Teacher Association & Student Councils gracing the grand event. This semi-Olympic sized swimming pool is 25 meters long and 12 meters wide and will be available of use for students of the school.
The swimming pool is located in a separate lot of the school which takes about 2-3 minutes to walk from the main compound, once the pool is finished with construction students will be transported to the pool via shuttle service when there will be swimming lessons.
“We want to train our students either to pursue swimming as a sports career or for their safety. We've seen schools from other countries making swimming as part of their curriculum and we wanted to have it as part of ours also. We are aiming our school to be an international school,” said GTNA President Engr. Leonora Salvane. There are plans to make the pool open to the public in the future. GT Group of Companies plans of constructing a hotel resort within the pool property in the future, but is still a plan being made.
