Lapulapu: The Conqueror of Magellan is an English translation of a 1938 Cebuano novel by educator-author Vicente Gullas. The only full-length book on the life of Lapulapu, albeit fictional, it illustrates how Lapulapu has been invented and reinvented through the centuries. An introductory essay by Resil B. Mojares sums up what has been written about Lapulapu in history, folklore, and popular literature, and reflects on the contested meanings and contemporary significance of the hero.
